Finally! An American track gold medal!

    Seems like it's been awhile.

And finally, a gold for Felix.

Allyson Felix, who make sprinting look ridiculously easy, wins gold in the 200m, Jeter picking up the bronze and Fraser-Price of Jamaica winning the silver.

Yep, split up a country and get THREE entries!! Split up the Soviet Union and get about 12 entries.

I think NBC's on-line system just crashed. None of the feeds will load.

Well aware of that. But only two golds on the track this deep into the meet is very unAmerican.

Three of the eight quarterfinalists were former Yugoslavia states - Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro. If memory serves me right, Yugoslavia was a dominant force in water polo before it broke up.

EDIT -- Next time I'll read the entire page ...

I think he's saying that former nation was pretty freaking dominant in water polo.

I don't remember seeing three ex-Soviet Republics among the four semifinalists in any sport. I guess it might have happened, but I don't recall it.

US goes Gold-Silver in the 110 hurdles. The favorite, Dayron Robles of Cuba, pulls up lame midway thru the race.

US women sitting 1st and 3rd with one round to go in the long jump.

U.S. 1-2 in the men's short hurdles. That's more like it.
