Canada had no business winning that game after getting dominated the entire game, basically scored on their only chance.

I wonder how much the game against the US affected them.

It wasn't pretty but very happy for Canada to get the win.

Canada was obviously spent and had little left after the semifinal. Sometimes, the better doesn't win, but rather the more resilient team does. Just like last year's Women's World Cup final. Canada certainly deserved it, though, just as Japan did.

Is there any doubt that Christine Sinclair is waving the Canadian flag at the closing ceremonies?

Seven-bike pile-up takes out all but one rider in the first race of the third heat of the men's BMX quarterfionals. British announcer describes it as a "total yard sale, there are bikes everywhere."

Shouldn't be, but this is Canada and they will probably go with the gold medal trampolinist instead. I still can't believe that is an Olympic sport.

Bronze medal games are always hard to figure. Sort of like college football bowl games. You're coming off a loss and your dreams of gold are dashed. So now you have to get ready mentally as well as physically and go play again. Some players come out with all guns blazing and others would just as soon not be there. Hard to know which it will be until the game starts.

Equestrian question: Is this the first Olympics where dressage was done to music? It's like figure skating for horses.

No, the Freestyle has been used to decide the individual medals since at least the Atlanta Olympics. I can't remember if it was used earlier than that. They keep tweaking the format, though. This may be the first year that the freestyle alone decided the individual medals.

While this may sound impossible, the last group of riders - especially the last two - provided a very exciting competition and some incredible high technical quality performances. Loved being able to watch it on-line so I could watch/listen to the music without commentators.

That could be one hell of an interesting medal podium after the soccer match today.

Atmosphere at boxing is something else right now. Women from the UK & Ireland have won gold medals in back-to-back matches. Place is going nuts.

US woman going for gold in next match.

Lolo needs to STFU. It's not the American media's job to wave flags for her, despite NBC.

First gold medal for Ireland in the Summer Games since Michelle Smith won three in swimming in 1996.

Prior to that Ireland won one in boxing in 1992.

Their only other golds were in track in 56, 32, 32 & 28.
