Because when you have a chance to emulate Maurice Greene and the 2000 Olympic 4x100 relay team, you have to take it ...

I still think this is people looking for something to get offended about. If you look, you'll find it. If this was enough to brand them as "Ugly Americans" then those applying that brand were predisposed to it.

That said, I admit I may have become anesthetized to this sort of thing, given all of the histrionics employed by athletes in other arenas, but this seems much less than a big deal to me. In most Olympic sports, the gold medal is the pinnacle of achievement and worthy of celebration.

Approximately 87% of the sporting media worldwide and about 65% of the sporting media in the U.S. get very very huffy any time the U.S. wins anything and does not act contrite and apologetic afterward.

Just another variety of mewling/whining about running up the score.

If you don't like how the championship team behaves after winning, maybe you should have worked harder to win, then you would get to decide how the winners would behave.

    87% sounds a little low.

Who gives a fuck what the media think? It's childish and stupid regardless. They're representing their country, not playing beer league softball.

Sweet mother, Bolt destroyed that last leg of the relay.

If these same people aren't bitching about Usain Bolt, then they need to STFU.

A picture is worth a thousand Usain Bolts.

If I'm that Bailey guy who got the baton with Bolt on my shoulder, I might as well just try and throw it at his head. That's the only way any human's going to stop him.

Bolt is unhuman. Whether or not he is on drugs, I have no idea. I hope not. But this is track and I have learned to be disappointed.

Some of the Brazilian women climbed the ref's perch after winning the gold. I hope the pearl clutchers survived.
