Olympics 2012, in Londontown

I'm kind of curious if the IOC would ever stop awarding Olympics to cities and give them to countries, like the World Cup. They could have a "hub" (like Chicago) but spread the Games throughout the area. If Chicago would host, would it be feasible to add cities like the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, St. Louis, even Kansas City and Indianapolis? It would really take the strain off the host city, because it's obvious very few cities can pull off an Olympics these days financially. I mean, I heard Nairobi was considering a bid for 2024. No. Fucking. Way.

At least she can laugh with every one about it! She tweeted a pic to mock her own meme! Awesome!

Jeez, I assumed the Detroit suggestion was mere blue font. Did someone actually take that seriously?

Detroit has about as much chance as Baghdad or Kabul (and for similar "looks like a war zone" reasons). It would rank absolutely. dead. last. on the list of major U.S. cities in terms of candidacy right now.

There are always a few delusional bids. Tashkent, Uzbekistan put in a bid once.
For the 1984 games LA beat out Tehran.

I'd have killed a hobo to have been one of the guys driving an antique MGB around the stadium during the first act.

And no Rolling Stones at this thing? Really?

Per Mick Jagger the band was not ready to return to the stage yet:

Seems odd given that there would have been plenty of time to get ready.

NBC should be banned from televising the Olympics.

Since NBC cut Ray Davies doing "Waterloo Sunset" from their show, watch him do it here: http://t.co/yH27h92K

Wow, they even brought John Lennon back from the dead to do "Imagine".

They apparently also cut the Muse number that was supposed to be the official song of the Games.
