Imagine there is no NBC. You can say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one. Dick Ebersole is gone but his arrogance lives on.

If US women competed as a separate nation, they'd have finished fifth in the medal count. Thanks Title IX.

Regarding future Olympic bids, the IOC doesn't like to repeat cities if it can avoid it. London is an exception because they don't mind repeating countries and there is no other place to go in the UK. The only reason LA got 84 was because Tehran was the only other city that put in a bid and the IOC basically begged LA to bid as well so Iran wouldn't get the Games by default.

Tokyo is much like London in that there really isn't another host option in Japan but I think Istanbul will win 2020 because it would be the first Muslim country to host.

The US is set up to win a 2024 bid if it can put up a good candidate city by 2015.

LA wouldn't work for the reasons stated above. Plus, California is broke. That also takes out San Francisco.

Can't see NYC shelling out the cash for a bid either. They'll never get a stadium built in the city & partnering with Jersey to use the Meadowlands is a non-starter.

Mayor Rahm has already said Chicago won't bid again - which may or may not be true but it certainly looks like they won't be putting a bid together for 2024.

That leaves where? Dallas? DC/Baltimore? Houston? Seattle? Minneapolis-St. Paul?

Tahoe - so everybody is 15 minutes away.

Maybe it's genuine happiness ( and deservedly so) but it seems like Missy Franklin is overdoing it when she gets in front of the camera.

Easy to be cynical, but she's the real deal. And, yes, only 17.

And she's 17. Teenagers can be goofy when you point a camera at them.

If it didn't happen in 1960, when Detroit mattered, it's not happening now.

There won't be another Summer Olympics in the U.S. while most people on this board are alive.

I would bet Toronto will be the North American host in 2024. Then, maybe Havana in the 2040s (probably a March or October date).

It's only been an hour and a half, but this thing already seems too long.
