They'll probably give the bid to Atlanta or something ridiculous like that.

    Oh, wait...

I wouldn't be so quick to rule out Nairobi, or anywhere in Africa. After Rio, it'll be the only continent not to host a Games.

If they can hold it in Beijing, where the heat index rivals anything you'll experience in Dallas, they can hold it in Texas.

Beijing is absolutely fucking miserable in the summer. It's like walking around in a steam bath and sucking on the tailpipe of a truck at the same time.

I would think Johannesburg might be a prospect.

    Has anyone mentioned Philadelphia?

Guess who has their corporate HQ there? I'll let you know in five hours - eight if you're on the West Coast.

But money will bring the Games back to the US. It always does.

I can see the slogan already:

Philadelphia 2024: The Fuck You Lookin' At?

As long as the IOC bans vuzuvelas ...

In an unrelated topic, can we get a proposiiton on which show will last longer, "The Marriage Ref" or "Animal Hospital."

Of the shows that I've seen plugged during the Olympics, I see "The New Normal" and "Revolution" getting second seasons. But neither get a third season. "Revolution" ends up getting a "Jericho" kind of half-season the second year. "Animal Hospital" looks like one of those that ends up being burned off on Saturday nights after the first three episodes (See "How to be a Gentleman).

Denver would be a really cool choice. But my question for any landlocked city would be where would they hold the sailing?

Even with Dallas/Ft. Worth, where is the sailing going to be? Houston? Corpus?

Also, there is no way Dallas holds an Olympics in September, it's football season

Let's not forget Denver is the only city to ever quit on the IOC. That probably is more than enough for a permanent blackball.

Here's a name that hasn't been kicked around yet: Boston?

The sailing for London was in Weymouth, which is a fairly long way from London.

And as far as the money always bringing it back to the U.S., well, it's failed to do that for at least 24 years of Olympics now, so I'm not sure how much truth there is in that.

As far as huge population centers go, India would seem to be a candidate, but (a) they did such a terrible job with the Commonwealth Games that I can't see it happening and (b) they don't give two shits about the Olympics.

Reliable source that Wikipedia is, it turns up some interesting ones: Durban, Paris, St. Petersburg ... and Tulsa.

    No, really.
