Brie? Bleu? Swiss? Velveeta? What kind of cheese would he like with his whine?

He's from the I.E. so he has no place to be bitching. Shut up and swim and quit worrying about others.

And that's piss-poor reporting/editing. Someone rips on Phelps like that, you reach out seeking a comment, even if it's a no comment/couldn't be reached.

Not that I know jack didley about fashion, but why do our athletes have to march into the stadium looking like they belong on the lido deck of the Love Boat?
    FAIL :p

I thought I'd stumbled onto a Mitt Romney fundraiser.

Hey, it's London. The yanks are the bad guys. 1776 has not been forgotten.

With apologies to Patrick Roy, my response to this column would be:

"I can't hear him because I have 14 Olympic gold medals stuck in my ears."

She should have filed a protest after the race, after they said "oops!" But who usually files protests? The coach. And her coach also coaches Felix. It's his fault that it came to a run-off. But once it was too late, she should have manned up and just run. Even if she'd lost the run off, it's better to be a loser than a quitter. What do you guys think?

Exactly. You run, the other person wins, tip your cap and come back harder next time. To not even answer the call is being the real loser.

I know a lot of people who "dislike" the Olympics. I hate it. I hate jingoism, I hate what it has become, and I hate most of the people involved.

I get past it for curling, skeleton and figure skating. But the summer olympics can take a flying leap.

(and yes, Liesl, I will "turn it off." But the question was asked, so I answered it. I'm not going to post on here repeatedly just to piss on your all's thread)

Funny, I only caught part of the Swimming Trials and thought there was a total lack of story telling. I couldn't tell you a thing about these incredibly fast cyphers -- except Phelps (and Jessica Hardy) who we already knew. It makes it hard to care about any of them if you don't know what makes them tick - particularly in a sport where you can't even see them competing because they're face down and submerged in water.
