Oklahoma City is an NBA stop for at least one season ... can some of you Big 12 types help out the PBWA members who were accustomed to great eats when they covered the Hornets in New Orleans? We know there won't be an equivalent to NOLA's or Brennan's, or even Mother's for po-boys, but any suggestions for non-chains will be welcomed.

OC for NO. Now that is one horseshit trade.

If you stay at the Westin there, there is an area within walking distance that has a ton of restaurants, etc.
Also, go see the Murragh Building Memorial. Very moving.

    Ok, now upon fiurther investigation
The area I was thinking of is called Bricktown and the Westin is now a Sheraton.

Rock Bottom was excellent. Thanks for the tip. Went to an Irish pub later on Tryon Street and found a girl of questionable ethics. Please refer to Cameron Diaz thread of main board.

I guess, technically, it's a chain but there's a Mantle's Steakhouse next to the Bricktown Ballpark that's pretty good. Ate there during the NCAAs in March. They do tend to roll up the sidewalks a little early in OKC though. Personally I think Bricktown is a little over-rated.

Varsity, also a chain in Bricktown, isn't a bad spot to hit. They've usually got cheap beer specials.

    How about Boiling Springs?

(A taco-flavored kiss goes to anyone who actually knows where that is. ;D)

You went to the wrong Dreamland. The only one that's worth a crap is in Tuscaloosa (it's the first one).

Don't know much about downtown Birmingham, but an area called 5-points (kinda close, I think) is good.
