Chapel Hill is one of my favorite college towns, even if UNC sucks ass. If I had been sober that night, I'd offer some advice Hokie. But it sounds like I had a good time!

Lots of good, cheap mexican food in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.

Try Carrburritos on Rosemary St. in Carrboro.

If you're ever in Columbus, Ohio:

    Columbus restaurants:
    Aladdin's ($), Blue Nile ($), Adriatico's Pizza ($), Tommy's Pizza ($), Anatolia Cafe ($), Katzinger's Deli ($ 1/2), Columbus Fish Market ($$).

    Columbus attractions:
Easton town centre, Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Art Museum (as long as a decent travelling exhibit is there), the Wexner Center (same).

    Columbus Bars:
Frog Bear & Wild Boar, O'Shaughnessy's (arena district), Fado's (Easton), Varsity Club (campus)

In other cities, off the top of my head...
    Indianapolis: Yat's Cajun & Creole
Los Angeles: The Getty museum, the museum of jurassic technology (for a laugh)
    Chicago: White Palace (great chili)
    Cocoa Beach, FL: Dixie Crossing
    Bowling Green, OH: Easy Street
Cincinnati: Jungle Jim's grocery store (in Fairfield), Montgomery Inn ($$)
    Chattanooga, TN: Tennessee Aquarium

Charlotte _ Cajun Queen, two locations. The one I go to is close to downtown, but in a very nice residential section. Took a guy from New Orleans there a couple of years ago and he said it was better than anything he'd had back home.

I'm repeating this question, with a twist:
What should this native New Yorker see and do in NYC during the winter holiday season?  I'm finally taking a little vacation, and I don't want to spend it sittin' around in front of my laptop.

Keep in mind that I have minimal patience for tourists, unless I'm the one drivin' the bus -- so skip the Rock Center tree/ice rink (though it's actually peaceful on a weekday after New Year's) and any other places that out-of-towners gather.  And hey, if there's anyone else from the NYSportsJournalists.com crowd with time to kill... let me know! P'raps we can plan a Secret Santa!

Have you heard of Timeout Magazine? They tend to know what they're doing.

Sorry boots, I was playing off the whole Harold and Kumar go to White Castle theme. Wasn't the white castle near Princeton? Or was it Rutgers?

There's a Cajun place in Shreveport called Savoie's (sah-VOYZ). Excellent food by some real Cajuns who emigrated from south to north. As for drinking, I can't remember where the hell I went. But Savoie's was outstanding.
