Not much in the way of museums. The space center about an hour away in Cape Canaveral might be worth a visit -- can also check out the beach if that thrills 'em.

Universal is a good break from Disney -- more thrill rides and such.

The african restraurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge(?) is a great place to eat one night.

The best restaurant in Orlando may be Tchoup Chop. If you have time for a good meal, don't miss it.

avoid the Holiday Inn full of surgeons, that meet there once a year. Those guys exchange physicianal stories and get drunk on two-per beer.

The Depot downtown. Excellent steaks. Save room for the mud pie dessert. Damn, I miss the Depot.

  6. Suggestions for Tampa/St Pete eats and nightlife? Heading there soon.

Don't go to Picadilly Cafeteria on the first of the month. You'll be trampled by 50,000 seniors wanting the Early Bird Special.

Bern's Steak House is good, if you're on expense account. Plenty of seafood places. if you're into nostalgia, the original Hooter's is on route 19 in Clearwater.

I'll second the Columbia, if it's still as good as when I last ate there, which was about 20 years ago.

Any ideas for a good non-chain lunch spot in Asheville, N.C.?

Tupelo Honey Cafe on College Street downtown is excellent, for vegetarian The Laughing Seed Cafe also is downtown

If you have time, go and have drinks at the Grove Park Inn, just sit in the lobby with views of downtown Asheville and 2 of the largest fireplaces you have ever seen, one of the best spots to just hang out in the country
