Straithairn had a small but convincing role as an attorney in "Howl" and he was good as Oppenheimer in a PBS recreation of Oppenheimer's government hearing to take away his security clearance.

Straithairn is one of those guys - A League of Their Own, Bourne, River Wild, The Firm

The Kurgen would be Clancy Brown, who has had a very nice career as a supporting actor and does tremendous voice work.

    Is voice work really acting?

I think so, but certainly easier than acting with more than your voice.

Hell, I've heard people go on and on about Andy Serkis, too, but I think voice work is closer to acting than what he does.

Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling, I think) was also in Mermaids with Winona Ryder and Cher. Based on his performance in 16 Candles alone, I was kind of surprised he didn't emerge as another Brat Packer. But if memory serves, I think he was little bit older than Ringwold, Michael Anthony Hall and the others.

  7. Thank you! I can never remember his name.

Voice work is often described as easy money. Excellent pay.

I used to bag on Andy Serkis until I saw the extras on his work for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Without him and his studies of how apes move and communicate, there would have been no heart to Caesar. It's amazing to toggle between the finished film and the plates with him in it and see how exactly they replicated his performance.

Interesting one. The guy is a damn good actor, but his roles after The Pianist have not lived up to that Oscar-winner. He's still getting work, including leading roles, but I'm not sure any of them except King Kong really qualify as hits.

He was pretty badass in Predators, which I enjoyed (though I understand those who would hate it), and I like The Experiment and The Jacket, but again, I'm not sure they were hits.

His turn as Salvador Dali in Midnight in Paris was hilarious. I wish he had more than one scene in it.

I don't think he's a one-hit wonder, but I also think he could use some meatier roles.
