The team with the least ties should get to host the next World Cup.

I wonder how many die-hard NHL fans want to bring back ties.

I assume you think it's silly that they don't have five minutes of 4-on-4 followed by a shootout in the NHL playoffs?

Back in the days before penalty shootouts, they'd actually have replays of drawn matches, when it was possible. Where it wasn't -- because of scheduling -- they'd actually draw lots or have a coin toss. Italy won a Euro 68 semifinal by coin toss -- then won the final in a replay.

The way I understood it, rather than play best-of-three and let the results stand, clubs would play home and away and aggregate goals decided the pairing. Only if the second match end in a draw and aggregate was even at the end of the second match did it go to PKs. (EDIT: Let me correct myself, away goals was the first tiebreaker.)

This is something I've been wondering about ... why not go to Stanley Cup-style overtimes, first goal wins? I know we'd have bodies all over the field if they were to go to a fourth or fifth OT, but maybe this can be an incentive to get it over with quicker!

This die-hard college football fans would bring back ties in that sport in a heartbeat.

If for no other reason that no coach would dare settle for one and face the wrath. The game would be decided in regulation for better or worse.

They still do that. What I'm referring to is something different.

    Me for one.

I have more of a problem with a team getting a point for losing than a tied game.

And I hate the skills competition after OT to decide games.

I was always a little let down as a kid when I went to a game that ended in a tie, but I hate the losing team getting a point a lot more than I hate ties.
