... which is how it's done in the NCAA and in U.S. high school soccer, if there's a clock visible. If the timekeeper screws up in keeping the clock, the referee will order it stopped with 2:00 left and will keep the time on the field. Why FIFA remains stuck in 1932 and claims it to be "tradition" is beyond me.

How are the corrupt refs supposed to ensure that the team they need to score has enough time to score if they can't arbitrarily add time to the clock?

You're either a sock puppet or a pathetic attention whore troll. Digging up a year-old thread to whine like a bitch proves it.

Either way, you're getting buttoned now.

Since this has been dredged back up (and that's my No. 1 complaint, too) ... in the US's 2010 WC loss, that was one of my biggest complaints. Once we knew how much stoppage time there was, Ghana's players appear to have suffered temporary life-threatening injuries every time they were breathed on. They just rolled around on the ground until the whistle blew. If you have a countdown clock with stoppages for cards/injuries/faked injuries like the NCAA does, that would put an end to that, because it penalizes -- rather than rewards -- such unsportsmanlike behavoir.
