So you're saying aware as he knew a month or more ago? Bullshit.

Unless you are Canzano or Anderson there's no way you can definitively say they are off the record.

If they were sent from his work phone, they’d be public record. Would you guys say that’s enough for them to be not off the record?

Like I said, you've never covered a beat of that nature and don't understand the dynamics.

If that is how the O rationalized it - and explained it to Andersen, I guess it's ethical in their mind to give up a source.
If Andersen didn't consent - I have a problem with it, job phone or not. You can easily summarize the tone and content of the texts without quoting them. It was fairly well known that he was frustrated with his staff and the direction of the program - breaking a confidentiality agreement with a source is viewed on the same level as plagiarism for a reason. It makes the entire industry look bad and undermines the profession.

I can assure you I have but then again I'm not sure why I'm even arguing with you given everything you say is BS anyway.

They were off the record because Doc says so, because he's an expert on these things.

Canzano and the Oregonian aren't helping clarify this issue with the "he was aware of it" language.

But I could see how they might have had an arrangement of, hey, don't use any of this while I'm still here, let's figure it out if/when I leave.

It told a great story. The guy was breaking down physically and mentally.

I know a lot more about this than you do.

You don't know dick about what I know, or what I cover. You made an assumption that something was off the record, without any real evidence that it was off the record.
