  1. Anyone have any thoughts on what pay for this gig might be?

  2. How much you got?

  3. I'm thinking in the 40K range. Am I way off?

I'd think a little more than that considering it's Trib and a major market, but I could be off too.

You can't prove a negative. Just because it doesn't say you need a cover letter, that doesn't mean you don't need one.

Get serious. You always need a cover letter unless you're applying to, say, Starbucks.

No you don't. I know several guys who rarely, if ever, send a cover letter. Yet, they've become quit successful, working at major metros.

I want to believe you. I want to believe that's true. My god, why can't that always be true? Fuckin' cover letters.

I don't think I've ever written a cover letter except to apply for two (big-time) internships in college. Neither of which I got.

Granted, they were shitty cover letters. And I had shitty credentials.

Got my first job without a cover.
Got my current job without a cover.

Think of it this way. I know many, many people, including myself, who never write cover letters.
A bad cover letter can kill your chances at getting a job.
Zero cover letter has no effect at all and let's your work and resume speak for you.
I prefer my odds without the cover letter and I have no complaints so far.

I am thinking, though, that if Hoppes really were to get 300 applicants, he wouldn't want to read all those cover letters. Don't know the man, so maybe he would, but I certainly wouldn't blame him if he didn't.
