    That's Danny Vermin's line anyway.

  2. Lynn - When you say the job will be open until June 30, I assume that means you'll be accepting packets until the end of this week. Am I correct?

No, he's going to hire someone by the end of the week.

At least two have already interviewed...

  5. That was quick.

From what I understand, both were local... Take that for what it's worth...

  7. Does the Sentinel have a history of hiring local people? By that I mean the smaller papers within 2-3 hours of Orlando?

    Yeah, I'm hired.

Unless you count Darlington, they haven't hired any local writers in a long time... Based on the way Lynn looks for writers, that means absolutely nothing. If he'll hire guys from fan magazines or PM papers in New Mexico, I'm guessing he'd be open-minded to writers within his own state.

i'll tackle the PM paper in new mexico: rick maese, formerly of the albuquerque tribune, formerly of the orlando sentinel and now a sports columnist at the sun in baltimore.

Their Florida writer used to work for the Syracuse fan magazine. I think he covered lacrosse...

    He's been an outstanding hire.

New info says that nobody has been brought IN for an interview. That doesn't necessarily eliminate phone interviews though.

Also, I'm 99% sure that their Florida writer came from the NY Daily News (after writing for the Cuse Lax mag, or he might have been doing both at the same time).
