O's fire Perlozzo, hire MacPhail to run team; Girardi turns down managing job

    The Baltimore manager's job, at least under prevailing working conditions, is the worst in baseball. If McPhail can be a buffer between Angelos and everyone else, it could work for Girardi. Otherwise, he'll have his pick of several jobs after the season. He's already voiced some interest to Yankee executives.

    Davey Johnson, who could be the man if Girardi doesn't take it.

    Rumor has it that MacPhail is the guy, calling all the final shots and bumping Angelos out of the way now. If Girardi doesn't take it I have a feeling Davey might, and if he doesn't they should just stick with Trembley.

    Perlozzo is a great baseball guy. He'll have a job somewhere.
    I'd like to see Earl Weaver comeback but it won't happen.
