I hope you are kidding about leading off with Berkman.

You could do a lot worse than leadoff with Berkman.

You could do a whole lot better, too.

There is no other runner I want on first, second or third than Jeter. I don't care if Berkman gets on base .00015 more than Jeter.

Fat lotta good it's done the Braves. They've been trading with the Royals since Dayton Moore went there, and they haven't won a thing. I think this deal makes them marginally better. Whether it's enough, I don't know. I'm inclined to believe not.

That is true. Every Yankee starter has a higher OBP, SP and OPS than Jeter. They probably would be more productive with someone else at the top of the order.

The Yanks lineup, based on the numbers, should go like this:

    Gardner
    Swisher
    Tex
    A-Rod
    Cano
    Posada
    Berkman
    Jeter
    Granderson

Glad they did do business. I like what Moore's doing, spinning four guys who had no future with the Royals into seven prospects. And that's not including anything he might get for Guillen, should he be traded, too.

Moore still hasn't done near as much business with the Braves as Allard Baird did with the A's when he was in KC.

Della has it right about the lineup. No way you could put Berkman at the top of a lineup.

    Not according to righties.

He's going to start the inning off on base 38-40% of the time. What's so horrible about that?
