Hitting Jeter eighth, after he had 212 hits last season, is just insane.

On paper, yes . . . but there's clearly something physically wrong with him
that he won't publicly acknowledge, and his speed/range have diminished.

Flat fast ball and anything but a poster boy for Modern Maturity.
    Inning-eater, only.

Arnold Johnson laughs when he thinks about his trades with the Yankees.

Lance Berkman would be an outstanding leadoff hitter.

Dumb call of the century on sports radio this morning, in a market that lost out on the Adam Dunn sweepstakes:

"I didn't want that guy anyway. All he would do is clog the bases."

The call was as serious as a heart attack. No touch of irony.

    The host agreed with him.

Maybe it's just age beginning to show on Jeter...who, by the way, would never agree to batting eighth.

They're in first place, so it's a tough argument to make that they need to fix a problem at the top of the lineup.

But do you really think he'd never agree to hit eighth?

If Gardner continues to progress, he'll eventually bat leadoff. Depending on who's on the roster and how Jeter is doing, he'll either bat second or towards the bottom of the order.

I know Jeter is proud & stubborn, but I think its going to have to happen if he wants to stay with the team and in the lineup.

As much as he'd hate to hit eighth, I think he also wouldn't want t look like a jerk who'd rather hit at the top of the lineup than do the right thing.

I just think it's too early to push the issue right now.

I'm surprised WLW airs the Dusty Baker show so early in the morning.

When Gardner becomes the Yankeesw leadoff hitter, Jeter bats second.
When he's 40 years old, Jeter will still be playng shorttstop and hitting no lower than second.

    Just think about that argument.

"I don't want that guy in the lineup. He gets on base too much."

And you're right. There is a major league manager who believes it.

    Unbelievable.

By the way, I have a friend who is a die-hard Reds fan who will fight you until the day you die that Adam Dunn was a detriment to the Reds lineup because he strikes out too much.

"How is that different than making outs other ways?"

    "He doesn't move runners over."

"He's on base 40 percent of the time."

"He doesn't do the little things."

    Rinse and repeat.

Jeter wouldn't put his own personal desires ahead of the team? Seriously, YankeeFan?

Who was the better shortstop when Alex Rodriguez? Try answering that one honestly and tell us again how selfless he is.

Great player, but not above putting himself first.
