McGriff. He eventually did accept the trade.

According to a whole bunch of folks, Oswalt to Philly is done. Oswalt and cash (rumored to be $11M) for Happ, Anthony Gose and Jonathan Villar. If true, I'm speechless as a Phils fan. Houston's going to have one hell of a ... track team.

For Phillies fans, fleecing Ed Wade for Oswalt has to be like fucking a swimsuit model in front of your ex-girlfriend.

Looking at Happ's numners is kind of like looking at a ridiculously high turnover ratio in football.

Yes, your +28 ratio showed a ballhawking defense and an offense that took care of the ball.

But I will bet everything I own that the ratio will be substantially worse this year.

Ed gives better head. Seriously, it was a good deal. Now, let's bring on the Yankees.

That ship sailed. Whether it was for salary relief, to replenish the farm system or both, Lee is gone. Looking back it was obviously not the smartest move, but it happened.

Reposting from the main baseball thread:

Jorge Cantu to Texas is just about assured. Marginal RHP prospects Evan Reed and Omar Poveda go to the Marlins in return. Florida will also send cash to cover Cantu's approx. $2.2 million prorated salary.

Cantu just batted for the Marlins and is still in the game, so the deal's not done just yet. Probably will go down after Florida is done today.

For better or worse (yeah, actually worse), Amaro decided that he couldn't afford what Lee was going to want going forward. It was Lee for one year, or whoever he could get at the deadline for however long he could keep him.

Astros flip Anthony Gose, who was acquired in the Oswalt deal, to the Blue Jays for Brett Wallace. Good get for Houston.

The guys they got for Lee aren't awful. Aumont is still young and throws in the mid 90s and could be a good back-of-the-bullpen pitcher. Ramirez has shown flashes that he could be a middle rotation guy. Gilles has been hurt almost all year so who knows about him. I agreed with the trade at the time knowing Lee wouldn't resign with Philly after this season. Would have been great to pair him with Halladay, but it wasn't realistic.

Wallace was picked up from Oakland for Michael Taylor, who was traded to Toronto by Philly as part of the Halladay deal.
