Padding a feature on purpose (a little trick)

    And when editors want a piece on Friday, they make the deadline Wednesday. Same principle applies.

    I'd be way to afraid the editor would hack away at the wrong parts. I specifically ask my editor to be careful of what he cuts because of transitions and integral pieces. I've been at too many places where the editor could care less what he or she cuts, so long as it fits the designed length.

    just write the best, tightest story you can

    intentionally adding filler to a long story may be the dumbest thing I've read yet on here
