    Welcome back, kiddo.

Oh, just wait until I get a few beers in me and revert to "Scorched Earth/I Will Cut A Bitch" Carrie B. ... I can't guarantee how long this kinder, gentler act will last. :)

That's why I welcomed you back. Trying to avoid being cut.

Lynn Hoppes goes in the long list of people who you will get totally different opinions of depending on if you go by public reputation or those who really know them/worked for them.

Bottom line: Is he good enough to work for The Plain Dealer?

Never met Hoppes, but boy can I name dozens of people who fit that description. The APSE influence. Has to be.

Appreciate deadspin throwing credit back to these boards. Not all sites offer the tip of the hat ...

Isn't the real question whether or not he is good enough to plagiarize The Plain Dealer?

NOBODY is good enough to plagiarize the Plain Dealer! :)

Little off topic here, but I don't really understand the animosity toward the APSE.

APSE is all one vapid beauty contest, but everyone still wants to win.

What Ace said. Jesus. Most of the people ripping APSE, I'd suspect, have no idea what APSE is all about. I was somewhat clueless my own self until I got involved and I can say without hesitation it has been extremely helpful to me. I'm a much better manager than I was before and I've learned a boatload at the conventions I've attended and from the contacts I've made there.

Now carry on with the current discussion
