Now *that* was a mushroom cloud.

Really? I haven't been around all that long, but the praise for Hoppes here has been few and far between from what I have seen. I agree with much of what you say about his OS days, but most of this is in his own head.

That will come as a surprise to a certain poster whose handle rhymes with Kazoograd.

Key is in the first part of your second sentence. As carrie alluded to, Lynn was basically credited for creating Orlando, for finding young talent, for grooming them.

Just my opinion: it's one thing to shred a guy for something documented--ie, a plagiarism charge substantiated by evidence. Seems brutally unfair to repeat details from second-hand stories and state them as fact. Not saying they're false or true, I have no idea. Just seems wrong in this context.

I have to go to bed, but trust me when I tell you that aside from the Chicago thing, where she wasn't in the room, nothing else in the rest of carrie's post is second-hand.

And let's also be fair. Nowhere else on this board is it necessary to have first-hand experience before casting aspersions.

    Attaway, Carrie.

And the "Paging Lynn Hoppes" stuff was pure mockery in this thread, believe me. Hoppes' reputation was well-known to some of us before he ever climbed the ladder in Orlando, so his "exalted status" on this board was mind-boggling to us. Good for some laughs along the way, though.

    The ESPN stuff? Not surprised.

Van McKenzie must be rolling over in his grave.

  9. Historically, this place has been a Hoppes fellatio-fest. In recent years, it's toned down.

Carrie: In honor of your take-no-prisoners, tell-it-like-you-know-it post, I bow to honor you and rise to salute you. Dayum. That was a world-class take down.

OK, I'd say you made up for your part in the threadjacking. :D
