Paging Lynn Hoppes ...

Have to admit it is a little odd that a newbie with so few posts appears here to defend Hoppes. Don't see why there's something wrong with anonymously ripping someone who deserves to ripped. People are anonymously praised here every day. What's the difference. Carrie didn't say anything libelous that I can see, and seeing the reason for this thread, Hoppes is clearly lazy and many of her other characterizations have been circulating for a while now as well.

 

carrie isn't that anonymous for those who have been around here longer than me. And I find an anonymous poster criticizing someone for anonymity a bit humorous.

 

PreFab, while I generally don't like rip jobs done anonymously like that, I think it can be overlooked since the former president of APSE, a bigwig at ESPN.com and a mover-and-shaker in this industry was caught plagiarizing Wiki-freakin-pedia.

 

No, but it means he opened the door for such attacks to happen. If people want to refute them, that's great.

Yes, anyone care to refute carrie's assertions? Schmadtke came on and gave his take on what it is like to work with Lynn, which is exactly what carrie did. She obviously has some inside information, and how much you choose to believe from her post is up to you. I don't dislike Hoppes and only know what I hear from those who have worked with him and what I have read on here. Schmadtke had good experiences with Lynn, and carrie did not. What is the difference?

 

No, he's not guilty of whatever is thrown out there. But he brought the attacks upon himself by plagiarizing. If those who know him want to refute those mean ole anonymous SJers, they certainly can. Some have. Others just whine about anonymous attacks.

Still just two different experiences. As has been noted on this thread, the writers liked Hoppes for the most part, but the deskers who dealt with him in the office on a daily basis were not his biggest fans.

How so? I don't know Schmadtke from carrie ... all I know is he worked at the Sentinel. His opinion is no more valid to me than carrie's. Just because he uses his own name doesn't mean his opinion is right. Everyone who has worked with Hoppes or knows someone who has will have his/her own stories. Again, anyone can feel free to refute carrie's claims.
