I got no problem with Cheryl Miller calling hoops, or any of those ESPN talkers who call women's hoops.
Women just don't play much football.
I guess that's what it is.
And I love women as politicians or business owners or mayors or preachers.
Just not women as football TV booth talent.
    Again, that's just me.

And if newbie HorseWhipped wants to attack me personally, he or she can have at it.

Wrong. You don't have to have played a sport in order to do play-by-play. You do have to understand it and I daresay Pam Ward does understand the sports she does PxP for very well.

Are you telling me how I have to feel, or how I have to like or dislike now, Buck?
Did you read my post? "That's just me."
Others can enjoy Pam Ward calling play-by-play.
    I don't have to.
I've already posted on Page 4 of this thread that I think Pam understands the game.
After 30,00 posts it's time to grow up, Buck.

I applaud B for saying out loud what the first few posters on this thread were too chickenshit to post.

But I would ask him to give himself a chance to get used to her voice. Especially keeping in mind that most p x p men have never played the sports they call.

...and the never-intellectually interesting "You never played the game!" argument claims another victim....

  6. Agreed.
Pam Ward does a quality pbp... I prefer her over half the Tim Tebow-loving, jock-slobbering, schmaltzy jackasses TV networks routinely trot out for college games.

I have no issues at all with Pam Ward. There are a lot of other people I find much more annoying and undeserving of their jobs.

Don't understand why this is a topic at all.

In a perfect world, this should the last thread we'll have about how competent Pam Ward is doing pbp for football.

Jay and Ragu nailed it. The problem that many sports fans and a section of those in the sports media have is that "there should be no way a woman should be calling a football game." Rudy Martzke may have a point about putting "eye candy" on the sidelines, but the overall blanket statement women have no place in sports broadcasting is asinine and reeks of total ignorance.

Pam Ward's biggest problem is getting stuck on shitty Big 10 games.

I watched a bit of the UConn-Cincy basketball game tonite.

The pxp crew was Terry Gannon, Fran Fraschilla, and in the middle was............Doris Burke.

    Ai Carrumba.

Just lovely watching a good basketball game on mute.

As someone said earlier, she's the voice of bad football. Not a bad voice. Just not sure what kind of advancement opportunities there are until there's a mass retirement from the likes of Musberger, Lundquist, etc.

I can think of a lot better replacements for Musberger and Lundquist than Pam Ward.
