In my opinion, if you want to make a specific criticism of someone's schtick or an article someone wrote, that's fine.

But to just say that someone sucks -- someone who is not at the top of the industry making millions and we can all legitimately and enviously agree sucks -- is bad form.

Plus, you have the whole black woman who never played the game issue in the background.

Plus, someone sentenced to Big Ten football should get a break.

Sorry. Woman who never played the game. The Pam Oliver segue threw me.

OK. I thought I was missing something major there.

Dude, don't be dumb. You've already answered your own question.
She's a woman. She's held to a higher level of scrutiny than male announcers and simply because of her gender, not because of her skills.
If I was giving her a letter grade, it would be a B. Not perfect, but competent, professional and better than most of her male counterparts.
Most of the peeople ripping her, have yet to feel the touch of a woman so they aren't familiar enough with the opposite sex to know what's going on.

Typical. You think all Pams look the same.

    Word for freaking word, Ragu.

Worse, the starter of the thread didn't like the fact that someone disputed his opinion. Not a lot of legitimate substance to back up the dislike, hence the initial post and follow-ups.

While it's well understood by most that this is a message board and opinions are welcome, why pick on Pam Ward?

Pam Ward is no better or worse than about 80 percent of the announcers out there. She is serviceable, not spectacular, and deserves, given her resume, to be where she is at as much or more than a lot of others.

Pam Oliver, however, like just about every sideline reporter, is a joke.

That's true. You've seen one Pam, you've seen them all.

SportsJournalists.com may or may not like Pam Ward.

Pam Ward, on the other hand, does NOT like injured players holding up the game:

Curry doesn't broadcast anymore. He's at Georgia State, simultaneously building and destroying the new football program.
