Reports now have it at at least 140 dead. It is being reported that the terrorists threw grenades at the hostages.

Can't read through all the posts now, but this is a political and military situation. It's NOT about religion. A well-organized group of militants is trying to seize as much economic and political power as possible, and they'll kill as many civilians as necessary to do so.

According to Moddy, the idiots showed up pages ago.

By the way, thank you, Moddy. This thread is NOT the place for that kind of bullshit.

You may think it's not about religion, but I think the instigators of events such as today's would disagree with you rather ... disagreeably.

I may have mentioned this before, but my daughter is currently in business school in Bordeaux studying wine management. She is fine but freaked out. She has many friends in Paris, and has checked in with almost all of them and so far all are fine. But I have no sense of humor about this, and am trying to treat it with the gravity it deserves.
Quant, where religion leaves off and politics begins is a problem humanity hasn't solved since well before the birth of Christ.

Quit sucking up, oop. That was one post apparently. This thread was going very well until the last handful of childish and/or ignorant posts. #imreallyoutnow

    CNN's coverage is quite something.

Everyone seems to be implying that since ISIS or anyone has claimed responsibility that it seems to mean something but I'm not fluent in counter terrorism.

The French president also didn't give anyone credit for the attacks either.

On the other hand, the French navy is sending one of its aircraft carriers to the Mediterranean, so I don't know what that means either.

We shall try to soldier on without you. Moddy deserved the compliment. Let's hope everybody continues to get the message.

I think it is a bit early to be saying with any certainty what the motive is behind these attacks. CNN is now reporting it was seven separate attacks, the worst being at Bataclan. They are talking about 100 people killed at that location alone.
