No but I will. If he keeps it up I will sue him & then he will lose what little he has.

Although, as I have often said myself the best defense to bad speech is more speech and I can easily defend myself and set the record straight.

I tell you what if anyone (with a good audience) wants a super scoop and wants to see all the documentation I have and fact check everything I am MORE than happy to provide it all in exchange for a good airing of my opinion on the Mark stuff to help Mark and further this story for MLB. Seems fair to me. Put up or shut up, because I can back it all up.

Let's be clear, special guest has NEVER met Mark, NEVER talked to Mark, was...hmm 5 or 6 years old when I started training Mark, to my knowledge has never talked to ANYONE who knows Mark, but IJAG wants to rely on that source - brilliant!!

    Fantastic journalism!

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Here is a thought - I know its REAL crazy. But why don't you read Tim Brown's story in the LA TIMES (you know the one I held up and zoomed in on in the video) that details that.

    Geesh

Can someone be a smartass if they're not actually that smart?

JDV, you need to take your "fantastic journalism!" bullshit and go the fuck away. Your usefulness on this board died early this morning at the very latest, and now you're just a sad, used-to-be-funny parody of what you deem yourself to be. So why don't you stop trying to run with people who know what they're doing, and go lift some big heavy things while your hair falls out all over the floor.

Ladies and Gentlemen - may I present the early leader for the 2007 SportsJournalists.com Thread of the Year.

Boots had better be careful - John is sneaking up on him from behind...just like the spotter who was behind John when he was doing his squats on the YouTube video.

Mert - Shut your mouth you jerk. I'm going to hold back on account for the mod's sake.

You are, or apparently have become, what's known as a 'mark.' You fell for someone's BS. Fine, but it wasn't mine or my brother's. You order nobody and nothing. Remember that, punk. If I mistook 'slander' for 'libel,' my bad. At least I didn't fall for somebody's BS post that got tossed, 'mark.'

Oh, and on the law. Written any contracts, jerk? I have. Done any patent work? I have. Shut your stupid, ignorant, 'mark' mouth, you bleeping punk.

Mod, I'll stop now. For your sake.

Ha ha, yeah I didn't ask for that kind of close spotting - obscures the video.

"Boots had better be careful - John is sneaking up on him from behind..."

Now that was funny. (Boots and all his 'backdoor intercourse' talk for those who don't know; JDV - he's not talking about the spotter in the videos, but a poster on these boards named "Boots")

JDV - You asked me a question in the pm. The answer is yes, they're good.

I've always throught that arguments lose a little steam here when people resort to personal attacks. There is more than enough fodder for ridicule on this thread without taking jabs like that. I'm sure the vast majority of us would cringe at the thought of others dissecting our personal appearance...

Thank goodness for some sanity. Thanks, TB.

Mod - To answer your question, I do not think the 'guest' is related
to the Braves pitcher, but I could be wrong.

Let me make this VERY CLEAR because JDV has not: I did not, nor did JDV, read any of what the 'video guest' wrote here last night, but some of it has been relayed to me, secondhand.

The guest has an agenda, which is to get back to MLB. That's a great goal, and I hope he makes it. The guest is concerned that what he said in the videos will hurt that goal, much like Canseco is concerned no one in MLB will ever have anything to do with him since he told some of MLB's secrets. I get that, and I sympathize.

LIBELING, however, my brother because you're mad he posted the videos IS NOT an acceptable response. From everything I've heard of his post, that's what happened. UNACCEPTABLE. NOT HAPPENING. Capice?

If the guest didn't want to be in the video - apparently he INSISTED on being in the video and had John make them before he was going to - HE SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFOREHAND. Remember when T.O. (to name one) said he was 'misquoted' in his own autobiography? Yeah, me too. You can't take back what you said, and ALL of us as journalists understand this, or we wouldn't have any stories.

Remember this: John NEVER asked the guest to be in the videos, the guest asked John. John obliged, and then posted the videos. The guest got cold feet, got pissed at John, and came here and attempted to LIBEL my brother in 'retribution.' That's what happened; that's the timeline. This is NOT the first time this behavior has happened with the guest, although it is the first time that SJ has experienced it.

Any journalist must know: Know the source, know the agenda. John did this to try to raise awareness because the HOF vote is a few days away. He never tried to make one dime off of this. Mark didn't want him to, and he wouldn'tve done it anyway. John's not hurting for cash. So that's his 'agenda' - to try to help a friend.

The 'guest's' agenda is to get back to MLB, which is why he showed up on John's doorstep a few days ago. That agenda motivated his regret for doing the videos after he did them. That agenda motivated his coming on here and attempting to libel JDV, then if someone in MLB says "hey, wtf with that video? Nobody in the clubhouse will ever trust you...", he has some deniability. Understand the agenda. Thank God for the mod's sense to pull the thread. Mod, you the man! :)

From what I was told, the guest presented himself well and wrote well. John doesn't always do either of those things well, trust me, I know better than anyone.

I get that, I really do. But don't let the 'icing' disguise the nature of the different cakes. John is exactly what he says he is. He does have a 174. He is a Wall Street known investment banker. He has been a sports journalist. He is a multiple champion. Etc, etc. I know you're sick of hearing it, so I'll truncate it. All of that is true. JDV can be annoying, but he's no liar. And neither am I.

The guest lied. Period. And he showed up at my brother's door, UNSOLICITED, the other day. He asked to be in the video, he was in it, he had second thoughts, he got mad, he came here and posted lies. Believe the libel at your own risk.

That's it; that's the story. Cut the crap. I know it would be all fun and great to believe JDV's a fraud, etc. We all love to see braggarts get their comeuppance, etc. The problem is, HE'S NOT A FRAUD. As someone once said, Oh those troubling facts.

If you don't want to listen, don't. No one's forcing you to. If you want to take fake names like "Juan De Villarreal," go for it. That's fine. But don't believe the guest's hype, or you are a fool. And don't bug the mod, he's got real stuff to do. Close the thread and move on, like an adult.
