So is it a crime against humanity that McGwire failed to make first vote?

Cranberry, Indian, JR, Beef03, DyePack, IJAG, et al who have been cool

I wanted to clear something up that has been sort of misunderstood in the wake of this whole SG thing in terms of my relationship with Mark.

Some on the board have taken the SG's comments about my relationship with Mark and run with it. As I have explained, that was an unwise thing to do.

Without reliving that. I wanted to make a serious point that should correct the record definitively.

Here is the signed endorsement from Mark (with edits from me in parentheticals where needed to make sense)

“I Mark McGwire used Power USA products (John’s former company) & trained with John Villarreal & Jay McGwire in the off-season while doing this I gained 12lbs of muscle, got faster, & my strength went up by 50-100% (depending on the lift).” Mark McGwire 4/5/93

(Notes: I have the original signed document and can make a video of this, fax it, copy it, scan it, whatever. ALONG WITH ENDORSEMENTS FROM MANY OTHER ATHLETES. Moreover, as to Jay above - well I trained Jay as well during that whole time & that is also well known & he also made insane gains. This quote above was ALL me. There may have been times before or well after I trained Mark where Jay trained him primarily or alone or whatever, but THESE gains were definitely MY gains. NO ONE disputes that.)

That quote was signed as seen above in 4/5/93. I had met Mark the summer or very early fall of 1992 & began training him then my last semester at Cal (undergrad) (took a semester off to visit my sister/family in NY (Cornell) when my first sister got married so I was finishing up at Cal in Dec 92.)

Thus, I had already been training Mark for over 6 months at the time the quote was signed (NOT TWO TO FOUR WEEKS!! NOR IS THERE ANY SPECIFIC TIME PERIOD IN THAT QUOTE ABOVE per SG. 2-4 weeks??? That is a joke!)!

Subsequently after the quote was signed we trained together and were close friends for many many years & I have conclusive proof of that (in business with his brother Jay, At my dad's funeral in 1994, seen together at many spring trainings in AZ partying and training together, many K lot passes (i.e. Mark's parking pass) & tickets for the Oakland Colosseum (STILL HAVE THOSE AS WELL), access to the player's locker room, Mark's official batting gloves, pictures, working out together in many gyms over many years (can name them all in many states), Mark's interviews and promos for my sports talk show on KHTK 1140 am Sac in 1997 when I was in law school at Cal. Mark or Jay doing a signed moral character reference for me for my admission to the CA bar in 1998. Media credentials from KNBR AM 680 SF in 1999 to interview Mark after he broke the record because they thought (correctly) that I was probably one of the only people he would talk to, etc. etc. etc. etc. of course capping off with me talking extensively with Mark and his people pre & post his Congressional testimony in 2005. Guys, this is over a decade.

Its like instead punking me for DAYS an enterprising reporter would have realized that doing a GOOD (but fair) STORY on this working WITH me would have had a decent chance to actually lead to talking to Mark via ME!!!

Unbelievable no one has thought of this!!!

A real interview with McGwire the first in years!! No scoop there huh?? Why do you think they wanted me on ESPN, why do you think KNBR used me repeatedly!!

This could be possible after I showed Mark that this could be handled a better way then just hiding out, but ONLY then.

Sure I guess that helps me & helps Mark - but it also gets the story out - which is one of THE BIGGEST stories & directly serves the public's, your audiences & the HOF voters interest. Which is EXACTLY why I am here.

I mean come on. Bob Alejo knows we worked out together & were friends for years. Tony La Russa knows we worked out together & were friends for years.

Jason Giambi worked out with us & were friends for years & I helped Jason when he was with the A's (he was like Mark's protege). He saw me bench 500lbs raw in Scottsdale (Mark, Jay, and Bob Alejo were all there as well. Go ask him.

In fact, when Jason was back in the Bay Area I ran into him a few years back and we were hanging out in the VIP of a club and he asked me what I was up to (if I was still training people was I think the gist of it) I said no I am doing Investment banking now in Silicon Valley.

This was pre-Balco explosion. Had I known then the trouble he was in & that he had to clean up & still compete I would certainly have dropped stuff to help Jason. Frankly, I feel bad about that. Jason is a great guy and tough competitor & I am glad he is doing well & bounced back.

You want to talk about the "why" & my relevance - I am like the Anti-Victor Conte & Anti-Greg Anderson.

    To be continued

Actually, most of that is opinion, at best the truth from your perspective.

And as for fierce resistance, well, you set off everybody's bullshit detector, promised scoops and information and delivered only opinions and insulted journalists in the way we do our jobs. In other words, you earned every bit of resistance you got.

That, and you make my posting style seem concise with your meandering, long-winded approach, and that is saying something.
