Bubbler, I laughed, but I still can't help but ask for those 10 minutes that can't ever get back.

I think MCA from the Beastie Boys and John "Integrity" Villareal are two different guys with the same aim. I think we all got confused when MCA's videoes were connected by YouTube to John "Integrity" Villareal's, along with the fact that John "Integrity"/"I Know the Guy" Villareal promised a special guest. Not sure these two nutjobs have ever actually met in real life. Just kindred YouTube spirits.

Re: Part one of McGwire story up on You Tube NOW

I have not said too much here, as John is capable of defending himself. But let me say this: Diablo Barbell is not taken seriously in any part of the powerlifting world, and that is a fact. For them to be characterized as 'world-class lifters' is an insult to legitimate world-class lifters.

Let me summarize Diablo's beef with John: He called them to do a contest they were holding, and once they found out who he was, they begged him to come and train at their gym. So he said he'd go check it out. When he did, they treated him like a punk amateur with a disrespectful, "boot-camp" mentality that is apparently their norm. He said "F this" and left, and then they tried to make him pay a year's dues after his having been there for only one day.

Suffice to say, John didn't need Diablo, Diablo needed John. Obviously, he didn't join the gym. He resumed his own training, placed third in the world the following month while setting the state bench press record. Let's just say Diablo had no representatives at World's and leave it at that.

After a year off, while handily (handily defined as by about 300 lbs., a blowout) defeating one of Diablo's 'supplemented' lifters (the only lifter they would actually put up against him, most won't even try), he again won state's while setting several state records. Following state's, he again won nationals (qualified for World's), won best lifter at nationals, and set several national records. This is all fact, and can be easily verified.

Simply put, John made Diablo look like morons for not keeping a world-class - a real world-class lifter - in their gym. Hey tried to be cool with them, they fucked it up (and have done so with many other great lifters), and John made them look stupid by his series of successes following the Diablo debacle.

That is the genesis of all this Diablo 'hate' towards John. That's it. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. They also hate John because he's clean and most of them aren't. And he's a lawyer and they're not. And . . .

But Ragu, you don't know the sport, so you wouldn't know anything about any of this, like who's credible, who's world-class, etc. You citing Diablo as credible is like me asking a Division III guy what it's like to play in the big leagues. You score points for digging up the reference, but lose huge in credibility. Too bad.

Oh, and so you all know, I posted this before I saw John's response to Ragu's post, so I apologize for any duplications. But I needed to clear-up this Diablo charade.

Rokski, I don't know shit about that world. And I don't care. The stuff that really stuck out had nothing to do with powerlifting. It was your brother boasting about the car he drives, and how much his car payments are, dropping names to try to impress these people you say are a joke, and posting links to girls' myspace pages to prove he's a stud. Telling them he dates "raiderettes." When several people made fun of the shirt with his name and accomplishments on it--which we had just seen in that ridiculous video--it was almost too much to take. Forget for a second that he's your brother. You don't see how funny this shit is?

He likely ripped apart Youtube HQ with his bare hands and all-natural strength, cursing the Devil's barbells as he went.

And that was the big scoop.

Re: Part one of McGwire story up on You Tube NOW

Trust me, I told him how funny it was at the time, and told him not to roll in the mud with the pigs. But he got sick of them running him down, and he responded. Did he go too far. Yeah, probably. But you have no idea what was being said about him, in other threads they had. It needed to be answered, believe me.

And I said this to you because you specifically said other world-class lifters were saying his lifts meant nothing, etc. Bullshit. I'm not trying to be a dick to you, Ragu - you're a cool guy by me - I'm just saying that what you said is factually inaccurate. Diablo is a joke, trust me, and they pushed John into a corner before he said anything. That's my only point. You can poke fun at him all you want, but John's the cream of the crop of lifters, particularly clean lifters. Diablo is not, period. None of them can touch John, and that's why they hate him so much. I'm not listening to their bullshit being aired without comment, that's where I'm coming from.

There's a reason why Mark McGwire and a bunch of other pro guys chose John to train them, bodyguard for them, etc. John's a big guy, but he's not a bodybuilder. Powerlifters train for maximum strength at minimum body weight - that's how they win contests, by competing at the lightest weight possible. Think amateur wrestlers, who constantly cut weight. So John didn't just blow Mark away with his size. He won him and the rest of the pros he's trained with his absurd strength. Mark saw John squatting over 800 lbs. - clean - at a body weight of like 220 or so. That just doesn't happen, trust me, especially without the heavy gear powerlifters wear nowadays. Once Mark saw that, he was sold.

John can be a braggart. I'm well aware of that, and I have no problem with anyone joking about that. None. I kid him about that all the time. The difference between him and most braggarts is that he doesn't say anything that isn't true. The Raiderette? Legit, I've seen her. The car? Fucking sweet, wish I had one. So, he brags, yes, but he did go to Boalt Hall (Berkeley Law), he is a world-class lifter, he did train Mark, etc. Just remember that. And, yes, his IQ is 174. It really is. And, no, he doesn't spell like it's 174. So what? Achilles' heel and such.

It's all good. I just can't stand Diablo, and they deserve ZERO credence or credibility. That's all I wanted to say.

Sounds sort of like your tales. You know, on here. And when you pretend to be some sort of expert on steroids and stuff, when all you really do is issue blanket accusations. Then one of them may happen to be right, and you puff your chest.

You don't see how funny this shit is?
