Hmm...too bad around 75% of Americans get their sports info from ESPN.

See how that works - lol.

Ever hear of trickle down theory?

How do you think that HOF vote is going to go next year?

Here is a hint: it's going up.

Ha ha, alright then - I guess it is what it is.

I need to catch up on what is going on with the Cowboys - winds of change are blowing in big D

Unfortunately for you and the other McGwire apologists, 75 percent of the HoF voters don't get their sports info from ESPN.

Do you not think there is any other authentic sports source in this country? If that is the case, I question your stated IQ and beg of you to read my sig.

  5. This can't be real. This has to be the biggest, most intricate and complicated practical joke of all time. Either that or ... Christ, I don't even want to imagine the alternative.

When you say "As far as I know..." it means you don't know. Which is the same as a guess.

I never said drugs make no difference. I don't think they are enough to take you from walk-on level to the NFL. That's a HUGE leap and if you know half as much about sports as you say you do, you would know that. In this case, we'll just accept it as your ego getting in the way rather than just more general cluelessness.

Yes, walk-ons occasionally make it. I just thought it was funny that you thought you would have. If you are so satisfied with this amazing life you have made (up?) for yourself, why would you care?

And I've seen how you write. I wouldn't want to subject any copy editor I've ever worked with, even the assholes, to having to try to make the crap that you write comprehensible enough to run in a newspaper. If you really ever did write for print, my respects to the editor that massaged something useable out of your crap.

And you may not be noticing here, but the only person here who seems to have a problem with me is you ... well, you and Seahawks fans, but that's another story.

I will admit you finally got something right on this thread. McGwire's vote total will go up next year, but not for the reasons you posted. There are definitely voters who wanted to penalize him by leaving him off for just one year and then put him on. And this is something that was discussed long before you ever posted on this site.

And two, there are no lock, first-ballot Hall-of-Famers next year, nobody like Ripken or Gwynn, so everybody who is deserving of consideration will have a better shot.

    Try again.

You know, all this bullshit doesn't matter, BVD, JVC, JDV, what have you. Everything you say does not change the fact that his disappearance in front of Congress two years ago hurt him to no end. I believe he will get more votes next year because a lot of writers punished him this year for that sad performance in his refusal to 'talk about the past.'

A mea culpa would do wonders for his credibility (because we are a forgiving nation) and would more than likely push him over the top. But as long as there are folks as influential as Bill Madden, who did not vote for him and doesn't seem like he will in the immediate future, Mark will have a hard time getting in.

I'm still rereading posts trying to figure out what sports JDV was national/world-class in besides powerlifting.

Look, I totally agree with you which is why I have come out now.

I think there may be no other way & I am trying to be a conduit for that or at least lay some serious groundwork for Mac.

That is what is so frustrating is that most people are against him not because of the facts but because of a shitty "performance" and his silence which have nothing to do with any facts but rather his personality.

Although, it is possible that we will advance this story and people will come to see what I, Stark, et al have been saying. MANY if not most of the players in this era (& I would say well before that with regards to amphetamines, etc.) used something & it is not fair to keep one out over others - thus if the numbers are there let them in.

But your post was quite good & I wanted to address that

    Thanks,

    John

  11. What the fuck just happened? Oh, well.

How do you think people will feel about you tomorrow?

Hint: you'll still be an asshole.

Here's what I picture happened today:

JDV: Debates on whether or not to call Mark to console him as only he can. After much angst and a few dates with a Raiderette and a few SGs, JDV longingly looks at speed dial 1 on his phone, just labeled "Mark". That's all it needs to say, his heart knows who it is. He hits it, heart starts to race...will he see it's me on Caller ID? (Yes, McGwire's phone flashes "jock sniffer" when JDV calls) McGwire figures it's time to get the inevitable over with.

    MM: Yeah?
    JDV: Dude, I'm so sorry.
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: No, really, dude, I'm really, really sorry. My heart aches for you.
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: I need you to know, I did what I could, honest, I tried everything I could think of. I got on Youtube, I did this great video you have to see if you get a couple of minutes, it's brief and to the point.
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: No, please, you have to see it. I am also on this site where journalists post. I think I'm *THIS* close to getting them on your side.
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: Ok, dude, I'll let you go, call me, we'll do lunch or something, ok?
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: No, really, lunch, dinner, you name it, it's on me, I just want you to know I'm on your side and I'm doing everything so that people know what the truth is, ok?
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: Ok, see ya, feel better, ok?
    MM: Whatever.
JDV: I meant it, anything you need, anything at all, ANYTHING, nothing is too small or too big for you, my man. Please know that. I'm on your side, I'm for you.
    MM: Whatever.

    Call ends.
JDV starts to think...oh, shit, did he hang up before I said goodbye? Was the call dropped? Oh, shit, what do I do? I don't want to seem pushy, but should I call back and say bye or not?
