Paula Deen is done

Nothing like a little stereotyping ...

 

Thanks to this thread, now I know two things I didn't know yesterday:

1. Paula Deen is done.
2. Who Paula Deen is.

 

In that context, and in that scenario, in that kind of themed wedding (or restaurant), what she said would only be accurate No?.

I don't mean to defend Deen, exactly, and she needs to just shut up for a while. But I'm not sure she did or said anything that heinous, or that isn't still done or said (or thought) regularly by many others, to this day, and especially in the south.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, everyone has prejudices, about something, and to some extent or other.

And sometimes, it isn't ignorance or a lack of exposure or experience with something (or someone) that gives rise to deep prejudices, or even outright seemingly inexplicable dislike or racism.

Sometimes, if the experience is bad, that very exposure prompts negativity more than if somebody is simply ignorant and unaware.

 

Thanks to this thread, I'm learning more about the posters here and some of their true feelings. Thank you one and all.

 

Paula Deen is a good racist and an even better segregationist.

 

1, Get new material
2, I wouldn't label her as a racist or segregationist.

 

You could publish a Southern cookbook with one recipe: "Dip anything in batter like cement and fry the hell out of it."
I ate at her restaurant in Savannah. The $17.99 buffet was no better than Golden Corral.

 

Drip, I'm curious, what does it take for you to label someone a racist?
