  1. Stage appears to be centerstage at the 2 sites I got tix for. If stage swivels, fine. If not, well, we'll see. Got Ten Club seats up front at one show, and got lucky with floor level row A seats to another show off general public sale. Damn I'm good, or that lucky.

looks like center stage is the style for this year's tour. i like it, makes my tickets even better. i would love to here the band bring back light years in prominence, god that song is great.

  4. I agree, Song Seven.

I love the line: "You're light's/reflected now ... reflected from afar"

    Agree with both you guys.

One thing bothers me about the song, though. I believe it's about someone who's died. A friend believes it's about a long-distance relationship. Help me settle that debate, please.

When I first heard it, I thought it might be about Cobain. So, I vote for "someone who's died." Now, I think it's about a smart guy who had everything figured out except for love. He had it, now the girl's dead and he's wishing he had the time with her back.

But, it's a song. It could mean many things to many people. I use to think "Off He Goes" was about cancer. Then drugs. Someone told me it was about Layne Staley. Heard Eddie say it was about a high school chum that lost touch, got into dope and got killed.

  7. For the record, the song is about the death of someone close to Eddie. He wrote the lyrics the morning of the death. This info was in an interview with John Mulvey of NME.com (the British publication/Web site New Musical Express)

I thought I remember a post at pjvault.com in late 98 or 99 about a family friend who died that he was close to, an uncle maybe?

while we're on the topic of this, what's everyone's thoughts on binaural? i know some people don't like it, but i think it's good, not great but good.

here's my official take on binaural: the album production is below par, but binaural songs live kick a ton of ass. breakerfall (1k times better live than on the album), nothing as it seems, of a girl, light years, insignificance, grievance, sleight of hand, parting ways, and don't forget soon forget, are all awesome live. especially breakerfall, it's like the band walking through the jungle with a machete. obviously on the 00 tour they oversaturated the setlists with binaural songs, but now that they are past that album, it's great to hear binaural songs played live because for the most part, they aren't played that often anymore, certain ones, at least.

wouldn't disagree with the above statement, i've always liked "nothing as it seems" and "rival"

  12. i agree about binaural. to me, subpar on cd, great live. of the studio albums, I rank binaural last, just below Vs.

I love acoustic Sleight of Hand from the Benaroya Hall show.
