Perhaps it was written by someone who hasn't paid any attention to Pearl Jam since Ten came out.

  4. The Flint Journal review is a much fairer assessment than was the Plain Dealer's. Evenflow video? I think of Jeremy first, THEN the Oceans video, THEN the Evenflow video. And when it comes to video images of Vedder, I think of him leaning back on McCready in the classic black/white concert shot first, and the view of him hanging from the support beam at the other show after climbing up.

I was at the East Rutherford show on Saturday -- the last show from the first leg of the tour.

The guys played for three solid hours -- despite a minor power outage right as they were beginning to play Animal -- and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Apparently the crowd sucked at the Thursday show, so the band really responded to the arena being packed and into it from the beginning.

The opening band, My Morning Jacket, was decent but I didn't think it was the right kind of opening act for Pearl Jam. They would have been better off opening for Widespread Panic or Phish.

I saw them last night in Cincinnati. Tremendous show. Highlight was probably when someone threw the current Rolling Stone on-stage. A drunken Vedder took the opportunity to excoriate the magazine for selecting a solo photo of him for the cover instead of (he felt and I agree) superior all-band photo that ran inside. He took the mag and said "I have about 50 copies of this laying around and every time I take a shit I wipe my ass with it." And also flipped off the cover. It was bizarre, hilarious & tremendous.

My roommate was there, too. He's not back in town yet, but I believe his drunken slur was something like "unbefuckinlievableman."

Don't forget, Pearl Jam will be on VH1 Storytellers next Saturday at 10 p.m. EST.

No way it's better than Neil Diamond's.

He has a point about the cover, but I really dug the article. I thought the band came across real well and they opened up about a bunch of things. Now, if they would just add a couple of tour dates in the South...

Unless Eddie Vedder once killed a drifter to get an erection, that is.
