Pearl Jam

  1. Big band announcement at 1 p.m.

Probably some tour dates, but hopefully also some new album news. It's been almost four years since Backspacer

Related, anyone else seeing them at Wrigley next Friday. I will be there with three buddies. Can't wait.

I can't believe it's been that long since Backspacer. Seems like yesterday I saw them at Austin City Limits.

I know there is a new album in the works. McCready talked about it in an interview, but they're being pretty secretive about it. Is it 1 p.m. yet?

Plan on seeing them when they hit OKC. Kinda disappointed they didn't announce an album with the tour, but incredibly happy they're going to be a couple of hours down the road.

  5. The album news is sure to arrive soon, likely by the end of the week. They reset a new countdown clock as soon as they announced the dates. I'll bet that has album or single news with it. I keep an eye on one in depth Pearl Jam message board and they were discussing the geography of this tour. About 55 percent of US, by their calculations, is within an hour's drive of a show. I'm not in that 55 percent. The Baltimore show coincides with my fall break (I'm a teacher now, not a journalist) but now with a baby at home, I might wait to see if they come closer next summer.

Plus, I'm going to Wrigley in 10 days. I doubt it's the best show ever, but it should be an experience.

I would LOVE to be at Wrigley. As for the fall, they add dates a lot of the time, but except for the break between New Orleans and Dallas, I'm not sure where they would with this tour. It seems like it's booked pretty tight, esp. the second leg.

Just my luck. The New Orleans show is on a Friday night. Bummer.

First single. I don't love it ... reminds me of "Spin the Black Circle."

    Got a catchy chorus, though.

I love the new single. Definitely has a sound similar to "Spin the Black Circle," "Brain of J" and even "Olé" in parts. I love McCready's solo, and I dig how the drums drive the guitar chords at the beginning.

Anyone got the new album yet? It's kinda schizophrenic, but I like a bunch of the songs (including some that the critics have been ripping, like "Future Days"). Not totally digging that they put "Sleeping By Myself" on it. Song loses some of it's charm, and it's one of a couple on the album that just don't sound like a Pearl Jam song. Feels like a cop out, too. Would've rather seen a new song than the band's cover of one of Vedder's solo songs.
