I took it as meaning when he was previously here on a regular basis, not this particular thread.

Lots of good points about the form and popularity of high school gamers here ... allow me to add a few more.

    1. Jay Farrar is right about Saturday papers; just look at the page count and you'll see how unpopular they are. People who have 9-to-5, M-F jobs are busier on Saturdays than on Sundays, and don't have much if any time in the morning to spend with the paper. That being said ...

    2. Parents, grandparents and neighbors who know kids on the football team (or families with kids on the team) are a large percentage of whomever IS reading the Saturday morning paper, either online or in print. So the ideal gamer for them should be a mix of storytelling, quotes, a few details about why the game was won/lost, and a box score.

    3. Enjoy covering/filing/reading high school sports stories while we can. As AAU/travel sports begin to eclipse prep sports, and as communities across the country become more and more transient, the popularity and need for high school sports will continue to decline. Whatever newspapers are still printing in 10 years will devote less space to prep sports than they do today.

    Oh, get off it.

For some reason, the one-word sentences really got under my skin there.

I'm the one who challenged him on his challenge of SBR.

    Go read the transcript.

No, I'll let that to you. I think you do that a lot.

It's not "about me." But it's certainly about my post.

But he said that he was abused for challenging SBR to "show (him)" his work.

What other post even addressed that challenge? Who abused him? Show me it.

I know he's a big-time famous writer, but if he's going to throw straw men out there, he's going to get called on it like anyone else would.

    It's hard being a big-time famous writer.

I believe he was responding to Elliotte, who called him "defensive." Not that it matters.

  12. What matters is Pearlman's snap judgement that Rocky IV is not a very good movie.
If I can change … | Jeff Pearlman

He's obviously a clown, a troll, or a terrible, horrible judge of outstanding American cinema.

His prep gamers leave a lot to be desired as well. ;)
