Oh, I don't know if Kaepernick really likes Fidel Castro or think the police are pigs.

I also have no idea what compensation Kaepernick has received from various people and groups for his convictions and commitments.

I do not think this is a widely held view at all anywhere except in 'Balmer. And with Goodell.

Apropos my previous post: Can a Republican work at Deadspin these days? Can they be openly conservative, or would Deadspin view that behavior as triggering? Can a Deadspin employee vocally defend Donald Trump and keep their job?

And since it’s a private business, should we care?

I think you're way off-base here. In days gone by athletes were appreciated as athletes, true, but their "red-blooded American-ness" was assumed, and their prowess was viewed as reflective of the very best of that "red-blooded American-ness." Apparently, reports on the demise of that dynamic were premature.

There's a tangle of things in play on the Kaepernick thing, but it's certainly revealed that the "shut up and sing!" crowd isn't sincere. Or, perhaps more to the point, Kaepernick's thing has showed the NFL owners to be terrified that the "shut up and sing!" crowd doesn't really mean it.

Why not have guards with assault weapons on the sidelines? And make quartering soldiers a requirement when buying a PSL? If you're gonna run roughshod over the Bill of Rights, go for it!

Why the hell would anyone want to work for Deadspin anyway? I wouldn’t want to not work there because I’d be surrounded by pinko liberals, as I voted for Obama and Clinton. I wouldn’t want to work there bc I’d be surrounded by assholes. For me, their brand is mud.

And there's where Trump wins. He's managed to turn the protest over police mistreatment of black suspects into disrespect of the flag and the military. Not that this particular president if going to do a damn thing to address the former.

The NCAA brings on the hate themselves by their hypocrisy. Reporting on the constant, daily hypocrisy is not hate.
