The rally on his lawn and his "We Are Penn State" bullshit should have been in. Now he's still barking orders like he's in charge of the entire university? Oh, wait, that's right, that's how he has come off for the past 30 years. Except when it came to following up on the rape of a 10-year-old in his locker room. Then it was left to his supervisors.

    I've changed. Get out. Now.

He led the Occupy JoePa's Lawn movement last night.

I think he's left the trustees with only one option: cancel the rest of the season.

Uh, I'm pretty sure somebody at the university wrote this release, not Joe.

Its in their best interest to make it completely clear that they've moved on in terms of who their head coach will be after this year. That line is just part of that narrative.

They don't have the guts to even think of doing that.

I can see it, now . . . the return of Joe:

    "My contract's up . . . I deserve a raise."

Serious question - could the NCAA step in and give any Penn State player who wants to transfer out of this hellhole of a situation a waiver to the normal year off transfer rule? I think that would be a small way for them to do something for the players and stick it to the people who did nothing to stop the monster.

I wouldn't do that. The players didn't do anything to deserve it. You fire Paterno, and then have someone, I dunno, Bradley maybe, finish the season out. Since I'd be surprised if a few other coaches didn't know about it, you absolutely clean house after this year. But you don't punish the players for this.

And if the board had any guts, they'd fire Spanier right now, and appoint the nastiest board member as interim president, who would then fire Paterno right the hell now.

I would question whether this didn't come from Joe. And I would bet good money that he or his douchebag son had prior approval in any case.

People seem to think the university's PR staff is much more professionally qualified and adept than the athletic department's. I can't say for sure regarding Penn State, but I haven't observed that as a general rule in the universities I've dealt with. And at Penn State everyone is under football's thumb anyway, so the distinction is meaningless.

They can't even get the stomach to get rid of Paterno after Saturday's game, or right now. Canceling the season? No chance. Especially since they're bowl eligible!

Old enough to form an intelligible sentence.

I was looking for the original Duke lacrosse thread to see how many of the same people spent a few days calling the Duke players rapists and every name they could think of based on their assumptions. Couldn't find it. Do you guys ever worry about knowing the whole truth before going into these mob frenzies?
