If you read the grand jury report, you get a whole different vision of working "over Sandusky" or "under" him.

Even if Paterno knew nothing (which I don't think anyone believes...) it happened under his watch, by one of his guys.

They don't deal with this every day Dick. Especially not in Happy Valley.

Most victims of violent crime suffer at the hands of the people closest to them. The perpetrator is not necessarily a threat to the public at large.

Sandusky was a huge threat to the public at large, or at least to poor, (black?), young kids from broken homes.

Crimes against kids are disturbing to even the most jaded cops and prosecutors. They're the ones that haunt them.

If you're ever going to leak, break protocol, or risk your career, this was the case. This one.

Kids were getting raped right under the noses of everybody in town. One of the towns most celebrated citizens was responsible for it. And nobody did a thing.

Dick, could you send me the link that shows that that is what Paterno was told? All the ones I have aren't that specific.

    You make some fair points.

I guess if I could sum up my thoughts, it would be that, at this point, without knowing more, the prosecutors would be pretty far down on my list of blameworthy individuals.

    The Grand Jury Presentment.

    Read it.

    It's all over the place.

The recent NY Times story says McQueary did go into detail in his report to Paterno.

But we don't *know* for a fact that Paterno's mind wasn't wiped by aliens shortly after he was told, so maybe he didn't know all those years. I'm going to wait until the facts come out before I judge him. Go PSU!

I thought it was "Clinton County High School."

Did he maybe "volunteer" at both over the years?

Fill us in. Where are these places, and what's the difference in the student body vs. the local school where Joe's kids went?

There is no Clinton County High School.

Central Mountain High School is in Mill Hall, Clinton County, minutes outside the sleepy college town of Lock Haven. It's where that Little League team which played in the World Series this summer will attend.

Lock Haven is a 47-minute drive from State College ... a pretty hairy 47 minutes in the winter, actually.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Beaver+Stadium,+State+College,+PA&daddr=Central+Mountain+High+School,+Keystone+Central+Drive,+Mill+Hall,+PA&hl=en&ll=40.963308,-77.667847&spn=1.327369,2.90863&sll=40.812073,-77.855845&sspn=0.020788,0.045447&geocode=Fb6-bgIdkQJc-yHVSgyZeYsu_Q%3BFTRfcwIdTUVh-yE6DUJaDxoYYSl9NqMqVPLOiTGXnPlhmj-ohQ&vpsrc=6&mra=ls&t=m&z=9

Central Mountain is a large-medium sized student body. State College High School is a large school.

Go ahead and trot out the fanboi shit again ... but ...

Did you read Ganim's latest story about who knew what?
Paterno got scant mention... Not in any of the earlier incidents has it been reported Paterno had knowledge of what was going on. The dots were connected and Paterno is not among them.
The only thing he is connected to is the McQueary's allegation. And if Paterno had no knowlegde of Sandusky's behavior prior to McQueary (and I have not not read anything to suggest otherwise) then that's all it is - An allegation.
Which is why Paterno has NOT been charged. To say he turned a blind eye is not true.

But it doesn't matter anyway ... Paterno had to go as a result of this scandal, whether he resigned or was fired he had to go.

I'd love to know about how Sandusky was treated over the years by the town's leaders.

He was famous, and led a multi-million dollar charity. They surely had fund raising dinners and outings.

Charities of this sort usually honor local leaders for their work to both raise awareness and sell tickets.

The kind of people who would be honored and/or attend would be the local DA, the University President, the Chief of Police.

Did these guys show up at these kind of events for Jerry's charity? Did Jerry "honor" them? Did they praise Jerry for all of his "charity work".

Did they do so after they had heard about Jerry's "hobbies"?

I hope someone looks into this kind of thing.

McQueary's testimony to the grand jury. "Victim 2," pp. 6 -7 Right?
