Notice that jr/s is against the mob, and while I disagree with him strongly, I try to show his opinions respect. Because his opinions deserve it.

Your opinions have not, not because they are wrong, but because they are just bad. Poorly reasoned, illogical attempts to distract people from the issue in the name of "waiting for all the facts."

Shottie, this isn't a court of law.

We're allowed to use common sense here.

You want to wait 'till it all comes out in court, fine. But don't blame the rest of us for reaching our own conclusions.

Oooh. How about Dohrmann? Can't decide if I want a lawyer writing it or not, though. That's why my first reaction was Toobin.

If we are allowed to use common sense why don't more people use it? Esp. when attempting to reach conclusions.

The timeline of events in this case and the grand jury report make drawing conclusions a matter of reading comprehension more than common sense. Evidence may exist out there that exculpates Paterno in this matter, but I'd put the chances of it existing about on a par with the discovery of cold fusion.

So we should look for evidence that would clear of him things people think he may have done? Even though he hasn't been charged?

I think you are looking at this backward ... Paterno is guilty of notifying his bosses without contacting police. Period. I don't think anyone disputes that. It's also not a crime.
But we have a bevvy of tinfoil hatters who accuse Paterno - based on flying leaps of logic - of doing everything short of holding the kids down for Sandusky, even when no such evidence exists. Just supposition, which has slowed no one down from making throwing a lot shit to the wall.

We should examine the facts available and draw our own conclusions about the likelihoods of various possibilities.

We are not a court of law, and as such we are not required to go beyond a reasonable doubt before deciding what we think likely happened.

A journalist who's covered a big time college football program and has legal training would be a perfect candidate.

Not that I can think of any.

Besides, anyone with those credentials probably has a day job lined up that they can't get away from.
