I see the torches. Are we certain they aren't also armed with pitchforks and heading to another board of trustees press conference?

My hunch is Curley and Paterno discussed that very point--that this incident could bring the program down.

And the wait to make any further movement on the situation for a week and a half? Maybe they were waiting to see if the kid talked to his family and they decided to press charges. 'Let's wait and see if anything happens and then we'll react accordingly'.

When a week plus passed and nothing happened, they probably figured they were in the clear. A quiet conversation with Jerry, where they said 'ok, Jerry, enough is enough' and took aways his keys. And figured this would go away, be hidden under the covers, like 1998, and who knows how many other incidents.

And they end up protecting the program--buying it another 9 years until all this surfaced this week. And buying themselves a lifetime in hell for their inactions.

This is what I've been thinking during this whole deal. There's more to this story. Nobody seems to be thinking about it, though.

    I agree 100%.

I will say that I will be amazed if Sandusky was not abusing kids outside of the Second Mile group. That means kids in the State College family. I am also sure we will never know every detail from this story.

I think it's amazing that we all think that there's more to this that will soon be out. It's hard to fathom that this is going to get even WORSE, even though I'm with most of you in thinking that is the case.

Also, I wasn't aware that McQueary stayed involved with Second Mile after the 2002 incident. While I am still open to giving him the benefit of the doubt w.r.t. the few seconds/minutes after his witnessing the shower scene, the ship's sailed on anything beyond that.

Over/under on number of shots of the exterior of the Paterno house during today's telecast?

Maybe they'll get lucky and catch Joe outside raking leaves.

I think gingerbread and Double Down are where I was a day or two ago on McQueary.

    It's just so maddening.

Yes, the whole thing where McQueary continued to go to Second Mile stuff after 2002 makes me regret I ever tried to understand his position or put myself in his shoes, and it fills me with a rage so enormous, I can't put it into words.
