Well, I'm certainly not going to make you or several others satisfied in this. Look, I'm going to look at it my way, and you can think your way is the only way.

I think it's wrong to doubt Azrael's sincerity here.

This weekend should have been about quiet contemplation. This stupid Joe Paterno Lovefest, going on as if nothing ever happened, just destroys any chance for that. This is a hard thing for people to get their minds around. I'm not sure if, in light of that, it is the proper time for a 106,000-person beer bash.

A sentiment that could have just as easily been uttered by the numerous PSU officials who decided not to further pursue the Sandusky rape incident.

"Please keep those donations and college applications rolling in."

If that makes me cynical, so be it.

Yes. "Quiet contemplation" is another one of those things that gets me, Dick.

Yoga's good for that, I hear.

Look, let's leave shotglass alone for a few pages. He wants to move past this, as do many other people, and that's natural.

I think the administration had one chance to get this right. Forfeit this week's game as an act of institutional atonement and a gesture that the school understood how serious their failure was. They didn't.

At least these guys got their degrees in arrogance from a much better school than I got mine.

What's "just" is a difficult question, but in this case, I think the theory of "atonement" is really nothing more than retribution in different clothing, especially when you're punishing people who didn't know anything about what happened.

I'm not watching the game and I don't really care, but if you want to actually help the victims, do something that has a lasting effect for them.

Yes, the football culture is at fault, but would cancelling a game really deter anything? Obviously any answer would be purely speculative, so I don't know, but I would wager that the public shaming that PSU is taking will have more of a deterrent effect than cancelling any game would...

So there will just be a beer bash in Beaver Canyon or somewhere on West College.

I get what you're trying to say, Dick, I just think it's really naive.

Well, at least it looks like we'll be saved all the stories about how the team overcame "adversity" and played like champions today.

    SO, meanwhile...

Let's say the last week's events didn't happen.

What would the score be now?
