We're dealing with the rape, and cover up of those rapes, of children, over an extended number of years.

Yet, this "debate" has been more respectful than any political or economic debate on this board.

Yet, you feel like a victim. You've been treated "rudely".

    Get a grip man.

The more I think about it, Penn State fans shouldn't have been asked to wear blue to this game.

I think a much more appropriate color would have been green.

I specifically said I didn't feel like a martyr or victim. And the only reason this thread hasn't gotten as disrespectful as those political threads is because the few people who have been in the minority have resisted the urge to respond in kind to the comments.

It's the problem with topics such as child abuse - people try to go "scorched earth" and outdo each other to show how outraged they are and anyone that tries to rein it in gets labeled as someone who doesn't care about the victims.

You may care about them, but you care more about your team and defending it. And there's no defense for that.

Changing the culture that allowed the officials to become so corrupted as to allow this to happen > football games.

But many, many PSU fans want to deny that because they really like their football games.

When the ubiquitous talking point the PSU defenders summon is to complain that others are outraged by child rape, you know they've got nothing.

Wrong again. I care about making sure that only the people who knew about a cover-up have to pay the price for it.

The problem was systematic. The entire football program, the entire athletic program, the entire University, shares in the blame.

The environment that allowed the program to become so powerful -- so powerful that the University President answered to it, and not the other way around -- is to blame.

How do you change that system? How do you change that environment?

Those are the questions that need to be asked, and that's what should have been considered when deciding whether or not to play a home football game, before 106,00 adoring fans, today.

There's a problem that needs to be solved. Arresting Jerry Sandusky didn't solve the problem, it revealed it.

Firing Joe Paterno didn't solve the problem.

What will solve the problem? Ask yourself that question.

If there were consensus on this, we wouldn't be at 115 pages.

Sure, it's not an easy question to answer.

It will take many steps, and probably many years to achieve.

But, was playing a home football game a step in the right direction?
