Don't worry about it Dick. The Penn State uber alles crowd is going to be punished in the only way they'll ever understand or care about.
    Years and years of losing.

How old is the kid holding up this sign?

I'm guessing his parents didn't use this scandal as a "teaching moment".

Oh, for Pete's sake. Its big time college football, by definition it won't be squeaky clean.

The good news is they will get NO recruits.

I think it's way to early to say this.

We don't know who their new coach will be. If we assume they can get a big name guy, and they aren't sanctioned by the NCAA, then they still have a lot going for them.

Yeah, it's in the middle of nowhere, and it's not a warm weather, party school.

But, Pennsylvania alone still produces a ton of talent. They'll still be in the Big 10 and they'll still be on TV all the time.

If they run a pro style offense, that will attract skill players.

I wouldn't declare this program dead just yet.

Just shows what a moral cesspool Penn State is, cheering someone who enabled a child rapist. Disgusting.

Agreed. I don't foresee the drastic fall that a lot on here are projecting.

And the kid with the sign? About the age that Jerry liked 'em. Nice going, Mom and Dad.

"The media got Joe Paterno fired,'' claimed Crawford, 48, an engineer from Bedford, Pa., and a 1983 Penn State alum. "The media is out of control in this country. They ruined Sarah Palin, and now they're trying to ruin Paterno."

There are not enough face palms on the internet.

I don't think its way too early to declare them dead.. hell that's what message boards are for. You really think big time recruits want to go to the middle of nowhere to a place that's lousy with pedophile-enablers? The blue chip decommits have started already.

And they're on tv all the time? What school ISN'T on tv all the time? The MAC gets an 8:00 pm primetime game on the Mothership three nights a week - let me know how many blue chippers Northern Illinois is getting this year.

Hey, I'm not saying it's too early to debate.

Are the kids from Pennsylvania going to go someplace else? They still get a lot of homegrown kids.

And, while they're in a Midwestern conference, they're also still the biggest football school in the East.

They get the noon on Saturday, network time slot all over the east coast.

    Now, maybe that all changes.

If they don't get a big time coach, or if the administration decides to de-emphasize football, then all bets are off.

YF, I think you have to look at it this way. Recruiting is salesmanship, and salesmanship is telling a story about one's product.
What story has been Penn State been selling kids and parents for 40 years that differentiates its product from the other football factories.
Simply put, it's the Legend of JoePa. We do things the right way here, etc., etc. That story is now a joke in the worst possible taste. The new guy, whomever the poor sucker turns out to be, will have to create a whole new story. Not easy.

They're not de-emphasizing football. Not in this lifetime. It's been their calling card.

But they're going to have to pull it out of the shit, and that's going to be a five-year project, minimum . . . AFTER the point in time they persuade a real coach who isn't a notorious buccaneer to take the head job.
