And from now on I will still this laugh line and claim it as my own.

    Bravo.

Paterno's always been in the phone book. But no one dare calls him, ever.

No way did Cope suspect that a football coach was doing what he was doing. That is a pretty big reach.

That's really what you took from that?

As someone said to me years ago, the moment things started going downhill in State College was when AP put a correspondent up there. Bracken and the CDT folks couldn't sweep everything under the rug, was his theory. I'm not sure how long they've been up there, though.

No offense here, but my shock included how indiscreet the guy was.

In a section of a football complex where any of a dozen or more people could walk in, even at odd hours? Really?

Sounded to me like somebody who had a strong sense of his own impunity, which led me to think of why he might have that strong sense.

Yeah, not sure how you got that from the story, 93D.

I'm assuming. Hell, I found the number (two at different addresses, one for Joe Jr., I guess) online.

Are Paterno's PC's actual sit-down pressers, or is it all call-in?

They'll kick people who ask nasty questions out of the building; anybody on the phone lines who gets out of line, they'll cut off.

It's both. State College, Harrisburg, Altoona and a couple others (including TV types) show up, others dial in.
