I put the odds at 80 percent it never even happens. Wiser heads (if there are any in the State College area -- they've been staying well hidden up until now) will sleep on it overnight, wake up in the morning and say, "what the hell are we thinking?"

Nothing good whatsoever can come out of it. Will Paterno say anything to shed any light on the whole situation? No, of course not. He CAN'T.

At this point, even giving him every single microgram of benefit of every doubt and assuming he is not guilty of any wrongdoing, he can't even explain or discuss that in public without interfering with ongoing court cases.

Talking about anything else would be preposterous.

He can't talk about the one subject which must be talked about. The press conference AT BEST can only consist of Paterno mumbling variations of "no comment" for an hour straight.

Rene obviously woulda' been okay with this had it been 10-year-old girls and not boys.

Somehow, and I don't know how, PSU has to find a way to put Paterno in a one-time presser situation that addresses this. Doesn't mean he's going to be forthcoming but they have to give the national media their pound of flesh right fucking now and move on.

If they don't then every weekly presser & post game PC from now until he's gone will be a train wreck of biblical proportions.

Meanwhile, I keep envisioning Jerry Sandusky as the Colonel from Boogie Nights.

    "Are you my friend, Joe?"

The Al Joezeera line is funny shit.

But I guess I'll be the jerk who points out that Al Jazeera is not what Fox News and a lot of people would like you to think it is -- and it put much of the American media to shame in terms of Gulf War coverage and other reporting from the Middle East.

(But yeah, I laughed my ass off too.)

I'm with Starman. Media conference is cancelled before it begins.

I already labeled Joe as The Colonel a few pages back.

Kerry - Jerry says you have a big C__K
    May I see it
    Thank you

I'm aware of this and hesitated at first. Then I realized Al Jeezera's a Middle Eastern news outlet which covers the middle East, much like Al Joezeera is a Penn State information service which delivers Penn State information. Plus, Al Joezeera has a much better ring that Joe-ox News, JoeNN, JoeSNBC or Joeburg.

This is something most university PR people would never have imagined dealing with. They need to bring in an outside firm that specializes in handling major crises.
