Very well-stated. But you're still not going to convince the JoePa apologists on this board of anything. Like Joe, all they care about is 409, the Nebraska game (!) and his legacy. Forget those poor children who were abused in his locker room.

But at this point, I'm guessing there's no way Penn State will let him take the field Saturday. I believe the smart people at the school and across the state of Pennsylvania are finally figuring out that he no longer should be in charge and the quicker they can cut ties, the better off they will be.

Paterno's career is over. His reputation is all that's left.
If he think's he innocent of wrong doing, he should speak and clear the air.

You think I'm not objective fine? But I'm a hell of lot closer to reality than 90 percent of the tinfoil hat brigade chiming in on this thread. And it's not even close.
My arguments are at least ground in some facts - like the fact Paterno has not and will not be charged, accroding to Att. Gen. - but that hasn't stopped the mob here.

Carry on. I'll see if I can scrounge up some more tinfoil for ya'll at the Food Genie.

Sure to be named in future lawsuits, Paterno has held his last presser.

So what? If Paterno feels obligated to speak, let him speak.

There's two conclusions here. A) Paterno is legitimately morally bothered by what happened under his watch and, legal ramifications be damned, he wants to express his sympathy and remorse and answer questions regarding his part in this fiasco.

Or, B) He wants to go down fighting, protecting everyone and everything having to do with the investigation, doing, as DD suggested, flaming himself with kerosene.

    C) He legitimately wants to talk about Nebraska!

Whether its A or B, I couldn't give a fuck what the ramifications are for him or Penn State. The public has a right to know as much as is humanly possible about these heinous acts that happened inside a public institution with anyone in a position of authority either doing the bare minimum or shoving it under the rug.

I cannot believe there are people who work in the media who would advocate that Paterno should shut up because Penn State will come down hard on him. Who gives sixty parts of a shit about that? Our job is to provide information and answers. The ramifications of those answers are on Paterno, et al, not us.

Joe Paterno yelled at Gregg Doyel to get off his lawn? I'm having a hard time keeping up right now....

NYT's Pete Thamel tweeted there will be no off-campus JoePa press conference.
