Sport guys don't have good sources in the DA's office. Requirement to move this story.

Sandusky showered a lot, didn't he?

Seriously, this is absolutely awful. If you're an administrator, how can you possibly ignore this? Kids are being molested on your campus, and you don't do anything? I'd sacrifice the perpetrator in a heartbeat. Absolutely unconscionable to ignore this or cover it up.

And it was done that way. Probably why our main reporter was interviewed on CNN.

Our Penn State beat writers provided the "who is Jerry Sandusky anyway?" story and a column.

At newspapers these days, sports guys may have to be ready to do stories like this even if they don't involve a sports figure. Beancounter-mandated budget cutsStaffing levels may demand as much.

Which wouldn't mean shit in a court of law. Nor should it. If Paterno is charged the GA should be too.

And, apparently, a shit ton of other people.

If you have knowledge of a sex crime committed against a minor and you don't report, you've broken the law. That's the way it is in Pennsylvania and most other states. You are particularly behooved to report such crimes if you are involved at a school.

I'm sure Penn State "fans" would consider it a technicality, but Paterno should have gone to the police when the GA told him about the shower scene. Telling your supervisor doesn't cut it or absolve you of your responsibility.

I just can't for the life of me figure how ANYBODY could hear "yeah, our ex-DC was raping a 10-year old in the shower" and NOT call the cops. I mean, WTF kind of world are we living in? And, no, I told my superior isn't an acceptable excuse.

Especially for Paterno, who has "superiors" in name only. One word from that old fuck and Coach Perv would have been taken care of for good. Not allowed nine more years of predatory fun.

Is there any way that Paterno's next press conference isn't a total disaster for him? I just don't see him being able to handle this.

Holy shit. Hadn't even thought of that. Dude needs to get "sick" like right now.

Yeah, I somehow see him either getting sick or it just being a parade of no comments and not-gonna-talk-about-its. Would be really impressive if the assembled media refused to ask a single football-related question. But some homer-leaning journo will probably bail Paterno out with an X's and O's question.

I can see Joe going off and saying something along the lines of "I'm here to talk about Nebraska, not any of that garbage," and everyone falling line with the questioning.
