I suspect if the NCAA starts to poke around this mess, they will be told very forcefully by the real law enforcement agencies to get the fuck out of the way unless they are looking to be charged with obstruction of justice.

Law enforcement agencies don't want other people: the media, the NCAA, PIs, fucking around in active cases.

I hope in the end the university shows some moral scruples takes care of the matter without the need for NCAA sanctions.

One of the great recruiting triumphs of the 21st century. I figure they are all on Nike's payroll and make an appearance at HQ when LeBron is in town.

I thought the only NCAA requirement regarding morals was to have none.

Chris Fowler reporting that Mike McQueary has taken a leave from the program.

The NCAA "governs" by consent of the "governed." It has no actual authority or legal standing to do anything.

OK, so now I am really worried about that asteroid ... this is twice today that I agree with Starman. What are the odds? :D

I don't know. Maybe if I knew what McQueary said to Paterno and what Paterno said to Curley I'd know why they treated it like that. Either McQueary didn't describe what he saw very well or this is just about the worst story I've heard in forever - a university allowing a known child rapist to not only walk the streets but to maintain an office on campus and continue to work with kids. You don't see why I might need more than a couple snippets from a report to say that that many people were OK with that?

Professionally, this guy was screwed no matter what. Yes, he should have gone to the cops right away, etc., but in the big-time world of college sports, all he would have been seen as was disloyal. The Scarlet Letter.

Personally, of course, he should have done things much differently. But people still should realize that there's a lot of 28-year-old GAs who would have done the exact same thing. I don't think that makes them inherently bad people, but instead just a product of this screwed-up system.

I don't, because the end result of their "investigation" was exactly that.

Look at what happened to that assistant coach at Baylor who blew the whistle.
