this case just keeps getting more messed up.

While it's juicy and interesting, I think it's a leap right now to connect his disappearance with this case. I'm sure he's prosecuted a ton of crimes where someone wanted to make him disappear.

But if he disappeared himself, it'd be difficult to think of a case -- and a decision not to prosecute -- that would have left him more conflicted than this one.

Circumstances much, much different, but that reminds me of the student rally for Bob Knight in the wake of his dismissal at Indiana. Students just unconditionally rally around the coach. That doesn't disgust me anywhere near as much as middle-aged alumni who are in denial.

Watching that video was sickening. Watching him wave and pump his fists and SMILE and throw out a "WE ARE ..." chant when the answer should be ashamed, embarrassed and humiliated?

It's a perfect example of how out of control and warped the perspective from top to bottom is there. As others have said, it should really stand as a sobering example for all football fans -- I'd add, all sports fans.

God, that was just awful. As is the defense for him by folks who are being willfully ignorant of the facts right in front of their faces because it's just too painful to consider the reality here.

The reality is, if he was everything that makes you defend him, he would have gone to the cops. Look how defiant this guy is now, at 84. THAT guy couldn't go to the cops because he told his "boss"? No, that guy didn't bother because at the end of the day, these guys build an us-against-them mentality -- and the them can even include the children of the people who for decades chant their names in praise.

Sickening.

He has to go. Now.

One of the investigation shows, don't remember which one, had a show on the Gricar case at some point. Pretty eerie.

I think you hit the nail on the head with Paterno's reaction to Sandusky. Not defending him, but that is likely what happened. He didn't want to face the reality because it is too painful. Again, not a defense...
